How it Works

What is Somatic Bodywork?

“Somatic” comes from the Greek word “soma” which means living body. With somatic bodywork, we explore the relationship between the body and mind in relation to your psychological past and current beliefs that may be limiting you.

Why the Body?

The body the place where we live out our life’s events, responses or reactions to those events which shape our psychological and emotional make-up.  These events often imprint within the body, which creates limiting set of patterns in which we respond to life with.

Working with the Body

When I work with a client systematically through the body, over time, you are able to let go of limiting experiences.  Through this work, you may regain a tremendous capacity to heal, to forgive and to move forward powerfully again in your life.

Frequently Asked Questions

THE WORK

What is inquiry work?
Inquiry work is based on The Work by Byron Katie.

What’s the definition of the body?
The body is the container for your mind, thought processes, emotions, the physical self, and the will.

Why is it important to work through the body?
The body contains the history of your emotions, feelings, stories, and thoughts. The body can release old patterns and harmful experiences to set you free towards your higher dreams.

Why is it important to work through inquiry?
Everything starts with a thought first. Then the body follows. By undoing the patterns of thought, you allow the physical emotional self to be aligned with your well being.

What do you mean by “allowing the body to work?”
The mind is quiet during this process, allowing the emotions and physical body to align itself back into the present moment.

What do you mean by personal history?
Everything you’ve ever experienced in your life is contained somehow, somewhere in the body and your subconscious mind. This is what rules us whether we’re aware of it or not.

In general, what would be the results of working with you?
Many moments of clarity, awareness, and healing can move through you in a short period of time where you can move beyond places where you’ve been stuck or held in for long periods of time.

Why is it important to work with women only?
Women provide a safe space together and can match the range of emotional experiences we tend to have.

Why am I uncomfortable to be with women only?
You might be aware that women are also aware of you at levels that you might be trying to cover up or hide.

SESSIONS

Should I book a one-on-one session or an intensive?
If you are new, I would start with a one-on-one session. If you’re looking to change a long-standing symptom (emotional, psychological, etc.) I would book an intensive.

Why is rest so important in between sessions?
It’s in rest that your body and mind are integrating without interference.

What’s the difference between a one on one session and a phone session?
One on one is an in-person session working on the table. Phone sessions vary between inquiry work and looking at personal challenges together.

Do I come to you in intensive, or do you come to me?
Both are possible. Share your preference in the questionnaire, and we will discuss.

How many is in a small group?
Three to four people.

Are phone sessions phone or Skype?
I am available on either phone or Skype.

SESSION PREPARATION

What do I wear during a one one one session?
Come dressed normally. During the session, you’ll change into loose, comfortable undergarments like boys shorts or boxer shorts before table work begins.

What about the bra?
No bra please (it cuts powerful energy flows).

Why is the room warm?
The room is warm for you to be comfortable while we are working on the table.

Can I eat before or after a one on one session?
Don’t eat 1.5 hours before a session. After a session, you’ll most likely be very hungry and are welcome to eat.

Can I be active after a one on one session?
I highly recommend solitude as your body and mind are going through a profound integrative process. You’re going to want this.
